THANKS

A big thanks to all of the members of the Stake who remembered the Trek in their fast. Please continue to remember Trek in your prayers.

The Big Brothers & Sister met Saturday, June 4th for Trek training.  They found out who they would be working with during Trek. The Ma's & Pa's joined us for more training and then met with their Big Brother/Sister to plan their family flags, song and devotionals.

Dr. Reeves spoke to us about medical prevention and mentioned that
every participant should cut their toenails before Trek. This can help prevent blisters. You should be wearing your boots regularly to break them in and find out if they are a good fit.

Boots

Trek Blessing Keep Repeating! - Note from Amy Mower

Our ward has struggled trying to get all our youth ready and outfitted for Trek. We have struggled, and been blessed in a repeating cycle.

Last weeks miracle had me in tears for most of my meetings.  I shared where we were at in ward council and that I was worried as I still had 10 girls with no boots and poor tennis shoes.  I was so worried because I know that if the youth are worried about their physical well being it will be difficult for them to have a spiritual experience.

After I left the meeting, a sister shared with me that she had just deposited a large sum of money with the bishop for us to use to get the girls what they needed or pay tuition to girls camp.  WOW!!!  If that weren't enough, I went to the Big 5 Clearance store 2 days before they closed the doors.  I purchased 10 pair of boots (many were also donated) and ALL of our girls have boots that fit!!!  I used less than 1/2 the money donated.

I then found work gloves at ACE for $2.99/pair with a $3 rebate! (I believe the rebate runs to the end of the month if anyone else needs work gloves for free).

I am grateful to all who are praying for the youth on this experience!  Our prayers are being answered in mysterious and wonderful ways.
Now, we are looking for tarps for the youth.  I will be happy to keep inventory and return them after camp if anyone has well labeled extras.  I also would love to know about good deals on tarps or suggestions on where to buy them.

Sleeping pads are still a challenge, but are maybe more of a luxury than a necessity.  I am hopeful that they will be so tired a bump or two will not affect sleep too much.

Trek Prep

Pioneer Trek- The Trek's date of June 29th is getting closer and we are getting excited for a faith building experience.  Lately we have been reminded of the 10 virgins, 5 foolish and 5 wise We know from previous trek experiences that you need to prepare yourselves physically and spiritually.  You will have an amazing experience if you are physically prepared and you have a good attitude.

The church guidelines state the following for Trek participants -  Each participant should be able to complete a minimum requirement of walking/running four (4) miles on level ground in 60 minutes or less without undue stress.  This usually requires some conditioning/training prior to the trek.  Boots should fit properly and be broken in.
